Asia Cup squad: Sehwag dropped from Indian Team
Umesh, Zaheer rested, Sachin Tendulkar in Asia Cup squad
February 29, 2012The 15-member squad for the Asia Cup announced on Wednesday did not feature Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan and Umesh Yadav. The Board for Control of Cricket in India said Sehwag has been rested on fitness grounds, but there are reports that this is a fallout from the Dhoni vs Sehwag spat. Selection committee chairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth however told the reporters that opener Virender Sehwag and pace spearhead Zaheer Khan were not dropped and have been "rested purely on fitness ground". Besides the two, young pacer Umesh Yadav has also been left out of the team because of injury concern. Tendulkar, who made 143 runs in 7 matches in Australia, with a best of 48 has been stuck on 99 international centuries since March 12, 2011. He will get chance to reach the unprecedented landmark in Bangladesh. India Squad: MS Dhoni (Captain), Virat Kohli (Vice-Captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja, R Vinay, Rahul Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Ashok Dinda.
