IND v PAK, 4th ODI: India win series with victory (IND 3:1)
Nov 15, 2007
Splendid batting display by Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and captain Mahinder Singh Dhoni guided India to a convincing six-wicket victory and also a 3-1 series victory here at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium on Thursday.
The last and the final One-day International of the five-match series will be played at Jaipur on November 18.
Set a target of 256 runs, they emerged victorious with 21 balls remaining when Dhoni hit a six off non-regular bowler Salman Butt. He remained unbeaten on 45, scored off the same number of balls with three fours and one six.
On the other end was Yuvraj Singh on 53 not out off 65 balls with four fours and one six. Both were involved in an unfinished fifth wicket partnership of 101 runs.
However, the credit goes to star batsman Sachin Tendulkar who right from the start displayed glorious stroke-play but unfortunately fell in the nineties again. He made 97 off 102 balls with 16 fours and together with Virender Sehwag (43) added 107 runs for the third wicket. Later, Tendulkar was declared the man-of-the-match.
Pre-Match Report:
India will look to wrap up the five-match one-day cricket series against Pakistan when the arch rivals clash in the fourth tie of the five-match series in Gwalior on Thursday.
India took a 2-1 lead in Kanpur, when they defeated Pakistan by 46 runs, after failing to defend their mammoth total of 321 at Mohali. The hosts will look to carry forward the winning momentum at the capt Roop Singh stadium, which has been a happy hunting ground for them.
With India boasting a deep batting line-up and the wicket at the predicted to be "perfect for batsmen", the task could be easier for the hosts irrespective of whether Mahendra Singh Dhoni calls the coin correctly or not in the day-night clash.
Indian batting has clicked well with Sachin Tendulkar's leading from the front while Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh have also shone with the bat on various occasions in the three matches played so far.
India have won six out of the eight matches, played at the venue with its last success coming against Australia in 2003.
